RANCHO DEL LAGO, specializing in the Pure Spanish Andalusian, sits nestled in the quaint countryside of McDade, Texas - approximately 35 miles east of Austin. Rolling hills and pastures offer a pastoral setting for a relaxing country retreat. Enjoy watching horses and foals graze and play in the pastures, gather fresh eggs in the morning, and gaze at the stars on a clear night. Swim or soak in the hot tub. Choose the Texas Room, the English Suite, or the Foal Watch Room, more rustic accomodations associated with the stable. All have beds for two and a private bath. If, in addition to simply enjoying the country, you wish to ride, stalls, arena, and round pen may be available for your horse at an extra charge. Riding & dressage lessons on our RDL horses are also available by reservation. Spanish speaking staff available. Español que habla el personal disponible.

Texas Room The Texas Room offers a queen bed, table with 4 chairs, snack area with sink and private bathroom with shower. Central heat/ air and ceiling fan offer year round comfort. $125/ Nt + tax
Enjoy the ambience of the English Suite, tastefuly decorated with hunt scenes and flowers. The English Suite includes a private bath with tub and shower, open living room and dining area with seating for 4, full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and sink. Cental heat/air and ceiling fans. $145/ Nt + tax
Every spring the Foal Watch Room, located in a corner of the stable, is bustling with excitement and great expectations! Furnished with two twin beds (a trundle bed) and comfy seating, the room offers closed circuit tv of two foaling stalls. Private bathroom with shower. Air conditioned. Due dates available upon request. Occupants of this room are expected to respect the mares' need for quiet and privacy during foaling season. Possibility to participate in the birth experience & imprinting. $75/ Nt. + tax Home Cooked Breakfast & Afternoon Baked Cookies/ Snacks with all rooms.

Classical Dressage Lessons Available with Dutch Trainer Michael Vermaas. Michael trained with Lord Henry Loch, Luis Valenca, Don Jose Adhayde, Fernando Aliveiria, & Marcel Bonaerens. Michael has trained an eventer purchased by Prince Philip and trained for the Saudi Royal Family. He is listed on Sylvia Loch's website as one of the 15 top classical dressage trainers in the world. Rancho Del Lago offers something for everyone and every occasion. Our gazebo and small bridge area, located on top of a rollng hill, has been used for birthday celebrations, weddings, quinceaneras, and other special occasions. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the gazebo! A pool and hot tub, located on a hilltop adjacent to the main house, offer seasonal enjoyment. Our ranch includes wildlife which consider it home. Some are rarely seen, but potentially dangerous: coyotes & snakes for ex. Pets should be watched when roaming free.

Directions

From Austin: Take Hwy 290 East past Elgin to Loop 223 at McDade (about 10 miles). Turn left onto Loop 223 at the Church. Go a couple of blocks, pass the Post Office and turn right at the stop sign. This will take you past historic McDade. Turn left onto Marlin. Go about 4 miles to the end of Marlin. At the top of the hill where the pavement ends, you will see mail boxes and signs that say Martin Ranch and private property. Turn left onto gravel road, across the cattle guard. We are the 2nd entrance on the rt.

From Houston: Take Hwy 290 West past Giddings to Loop 223 at McDade (about 21 miles). Turn right at the yellow blinking light onto Loop 223 at the Cemetery. Go a couple of blocks and continue on Loop 223 by turning left. Go another couple of blocks and turn right onto Marlin. Proceed as above.
